Van Gaal remembering rivalry against Steve McClaren – Maybe if you still remember the game between Manchester United vs Newcastle United held last weekend. Well, it turns out the each of the club manager has a story of rivalry when both were still handling the team in the Dutch league, Eredivisie.

Louis van Gaal recalls his rivalry with Steve McClaren, who has faced opponents last weekend. Manchester United has entertained the Newcastle United in the third Matchday of the Premier League by a score of 0-0.
For Van Gaal, McClaren is a rival whom he already knew well. Both of them competed to coach the football club for the first time in 2008, when Van Gaal coached AZ Alkmaar and McClaren handled Twente.
As reported by the official website of United, Van Gaal recalled that he and McClaren were equally as coach in the Eredivisie. Last season he was in AZ, Steve McClaren was the coach at Twente. He was pleased that AZ was able to become the season champion. But Twente finished as as runner-up, and the next season Twente became the champion. It was the greatest achievement for Twente and Steve McClaren.
The both competition of them were continued in the Bundesliga. Van Gaal first came from handling Bayern Munich and McClaren were following to handle Wolfsburg. Once again, Van Gaal was able to be the best by delivering Bayern won the Budesliga.
Van Gaal also added that both of them meet again in the Bundesliga when he handled Bayern Munich and Steve McClaren coached Wolfsburg. Bayern won that season, but he remembers well that Bayern match against Wolfsburg was always tight.
